Russian President Vladimir Putin invited the Jews of Europe to return to Russia. European Jewish Congress leaders led by Dr. Moshe Kantor met with Putin in light of the rampant anti-Semitism in Europe.
"We definitely see you as a direct ally in preserving the memory of World War II, which was a disaster for all mankind, and of course the memory of the Holocaust," Putin said.
He further added that, "Jews who feel uncomfortable in different European countries following the anti-Semitic incidents can immigrate to Russia, they can come to us. They left the Soviet Union, let them come back."
He added that, "This could be the worst situation since World War II".
Kantor agreed with the president and said: "Statistically, the situation of the Jews in Europe today is the worst since the end of World War II, there is an actual feasibility of an Exodus of the Jews from certain parts of Europe. We are pleased to report that statistically, anti-Semitism in Russia went down, and we hope that it will continue to fall. We thank the Russian authorities who fight against those who want to harm Jews."
As recalled, over the last year Jews were violently attacked in several locations in Europe and especially in France.
