Uproar in Tiberias: Chief Rabbi Lau commented this evening (Sunday), regarding the desecration of a synagogue in Tiberias: "education is needed."
An uproar occurred around the desecration of a Tiberias synagogue at the Leonardo hotel in the city, where a message room was established over the weekend for runners at an international marathon. All this was done in front of the Ark and the Torah bimah.
The Office of the Chief Rabbi, Hagaon Rabbi David Lau received inquiries about the event.
The Rabbi responded that: "As a chief rabbi, I express protest against the desecration of the synagogue - a Beis Mikdash Me'at. A synagogue is a holy place for every single Jew. These pictures are offensive to the heart of every Jew."
"I intend to appeal to those involved in this unfortunate incident and request clarifications how the performing of such acts were allowed in the territory of the synagogue. Education is needed for integration of worthy sentiments towards a holy place," said the Rabbi.
