Just before the storm: everything you need to know

Following the weather forecast of the possibility of snow fall in northern Israel and possibly in Jerusalem over the weekend, here are some rules to help you get through the next few days - and a few important things to know for them.
Due to the extreme cold one has to be careful of frostbite. Frostbite is damage to body tissues expressed in scars and could be gangrenous, resulting from exposure to extreme cold. Usually the first organs suffering from frostbite are the most prominent and remote organs: nose, ears and fingers.
Frostbite can cause loss of those organs. During a temperature lower than 15° blood vessels are produced close to the skin, in order to maintain general body temperature. The extreme cold may bring with it various kinds of winter ills. One of them is hypothermia, body temperature drop up to a temperature which causes bodily injury or even more.
Hypothermia is a condition of decline in body temperature below 35 degrees Celsius, which could lead in some cases to death.
Hypothermia is divided into two main modes: the first is when body temperature decreases due to weather conditions which are extremely cold.
Another mode of hypothermia is when body temperature decreases due to an internal infection, disease or taking pills that affect the central regulation of body heat. If there is a concern of hypothermia one has to move the injured person to a warm and cozy place and wrap him up until the arrival of rescue services.

Ichud Hatzalah is ready for a continuous activity despite difficulties and disruptions to transportation routes. If indeed it snows in the north and Jerusalem, and as a result the roads are blocked, life saving operations of the volunteers will continue assisted by various SUVs of volunteers of Unit 4 of Ichud Hatzalah established in order to respond to medical and humanitarian in a complex terrain, and with chains on the wheels of cars volunteers.
On the upcoming Shabbos the 1221 Center of Ichud Hatzala will be run in emergency mode and in all emergency cases the call center will alert volunteers located near the event, due to the difficulty of the arrival of emergency forces if the hinges are blocked, and as known sometimes in saving lives every minute can be critical."
As part of its preparations, volunteers from across the country and citizens who have SUVs, jeeps, vehicles with front-wheel drive, and rescue vehicles were called to join Unit 4 of the Ichud Hatzalah for the purpose of assignment to assist in emergency shifts during the entire year as well.
Volunteers of Unit 4, the SUVs unit of Ichud Hatzalah - operate under the command of the United National Center of Ichud Hatzalah and will be alerted using a designated application which finds the volunteer's location and his availability status and hoists him to the relevant case according to the parameters set for him.
