Tragedy in Beitar Illit: "I was zoche to offer a korban ola," eulogized this evening (Sunday), Rabbi Mordechai Chananya Weingarten, at the death of his 3 and a half year old son, Yisrael David Weingarten z"l.
A large crowd attended this evening the Shamgar funeral home in Jerusalem to escort the child Yisrael David Weingarten z"l who was 3 and a half, who was killed in a terrible accident earlier this evening, on Hachoze MiLublin Street in Beitar Illit.
He was first eulogized by the child's grandfather – Hagaon Rabbi Yaakov Weingarten, magid shiur at the Yeshiva of Rahmastrivka, who said: "You are a victim of the public, you really like loved to sing. Only this last Shabbos I sang with you. You sang with such passion. You so loved to sing, I danced with you and you so loved to dance. Go up to the heavens and shout to the Almighty, weep for the sake of your father and your mother, pray for them. We should know that everything is grace, everything is chassodim".
After that the father, Rabbi Mordechai Chananya Weingarten, who was crying tears on his son's bed, gave a hesped: "I was zoche to sacrifice a korban ola. Burnt offering. Such a pure soul. May you be the last victim. Rest in peace, and we will have an advocate in heaven."
After Kaddish by the father, the funeral procession went on to the Mount of Rest where he was buried.
The child Yisrael David studied at the Talmud Torah Ohr Olam in Beitar Illit. His father is Rabbi Mordechai Chananya Weingarten, an avrech. Last Lag B'Omer they celebrated the Upsherin of the child who reached the age of three.
This evening his thread of life was severed when he ran onto the road with his older brother and was run over by a bus.
Mrs. P.A., an eyewitness, told Behadrey Haredim about the disaster: "I was standing on the balcony at a height. A bus came to a stop, passengers went off and it drove away. Two small children, who stood shortly after the station, broke into the road, my heart nearly jumped out," she describes excitedly, "a tenant in a close by building was sent from heaven, noticed the children and the approaching bus, and just a fraction of a second before the bus hit them, she pulled one of them, and a moment later the 3-year-old boy was run over and injured in front of my eyes.
"Despite the trauma, I immediately called an ambulance, and soon a drive arrived, looked at the boy and covered him immediately. I realized that something tragic had happened and he was no longer alive.
"My 5 year old daughter came down from the bus at the station half a minute earlier, she saw the accident, but thank G-d, did not really understand what had happened and went straight home." She says that immediately she warned the children repeatedly to maintain road safety precautions".
