After official representatives were absent from the funeral procession of hakadosh Rabbi Reuven Birmacher HYD, today (Sunday) President Reuven Rivlin arrived to console the family in Kiryat Yearim.

Rabbi Birmacher's wife Naomi and children, told the President of the father and the great privilege he saw in living in Israel, despite the difficulties, after immigrating from Argentina to Israel.

"Just a week ago we returned from visiting family on Hanukkah in Argentina, people ask me if I wanted to go back to Argentina and I say no, Reuven my husband would not want that. The spirit here in Israel there is no place else, here's my home. Although it's very difficult."

One of the boys told the President of the encouragement he derived from his father at moments when experiencing difficulties and said: "My father always said not to give up even when it's difficult, life must continue. We learned from him and that's what we're doing."

The president said to the family, "Even in these difficult times they cannot beat us", adding: "The personal pain is immense and I will pray with you that soon the days will return when you will know joy."
