undreds of residents of the Modi'in Illit neighborhood of Brachfeld attended this afternoon (Tuesday) the heartbreaking funeral procession of a young woman, Mrs. Margalit Gefner a.h., who fell this morning suddenly from the window of her home in Brachfeld and was killed; she was only 30 years old at her demise.
The funeral procession left the Beis Midrash Imrei Chaim of Viznitz in Brachfeld. She was eulogized by the local rabbis Hagaon Rabbi Israel Zicherman and community Rabbi Hagaon R' Baruch Sternbuch.
Harav Zicherman in his speech asked the public to strengthen itself in Torah, and sign a standing order for the family, and indeed participants handed out pages and signed an order of contribution to the fund which was established.
Harav Sternbuch said in his eulogy that the entire community should do soul searching on account of the tragedy at the Tenth of Tevet. "This is the first time that such bad news happens to us in the community, everyone has to strengthen all, not only the family but also the neighbors in the building where the accident occurred, We are all one family and everyone should take upon themselves good things. She is the public sacrifice of the whole community," said the rabbi.
Rabbi Sternbuch noted that the deceased had left her job for the sake of raising her children. "How much devotion she had for her children, we need to take upon ourselves to help the father and children if she gave of herself to her home."
After Kaddish was said by her 5-year-old son, when all participants burst into tears, the funeral proceeded next to her home and from there to the cemetery in Rechovot – according to the orders of the Rebbe to burry her there.
