After two years, Rabbi Yaakov Weingarten won the suing case of US authorities.

Two years ago, US authorities sued Rabbi Yaakov Weingarten – a chessed activist in New York on suspicion of embezzlement of $ 42 million.

The affair published in Behadrey Haredim stirred Orthodox Jews in New York, as Rabbi Weingarten was recognized as one of the most prominent chessed functionaries in the city.

The one who studied the materials submitted by the prosecution is Hagaon Rabbi Eliyahu Behr Wachtfogel, Rosh Yeshivat Zichron Moshe, in South Flausberg, who ruled that the accusations are baseless, and Rabbi Weingarten is free of any blame. He enlisted entirely to the case and opened a comprehensive campaign to prove his innocence.

As stated last week after he was facing a lawsuit that sought to impose a fine in the amount of 700 thousand dollars, he was acquitted. Federal prosecutors have determined that Rabbi Weingarten will pay only 25 thousand dollars for delays in submitting the association reports.

Rabbi Wachtfogel recruited other Gedolei Yisroel in the US to his support, welcomed Rabbi Weingarten upon receipt of the judgment and said, "'A good name is better than good oil, I am happy to see that now it is public knowledge that you are innocent and faultless, and the accusations against you are baseless. May you continue with zikui harabim and the many acts of kindness and charity you deal with."
