Netanyahu said at the meeting that "the events of recent days show how important our coordination mechanism and our attempts to cooperate are in order to prevent unwanted accidents and tragedies. I think we've been able to do that, and that's important.
"We are in a tough battle against radical Islam and against barbarism and terrorism it disseminates. I hope that Israel and Russia will be able to see eye to eye on all strategic issues and I can assure that we can achieve better coordination on the ground and in the air in order to avoid creating the same problems we've seen.
He further added, "I am satisfied with the successful coordination between our militaries and we will continue to do so. This is an indication of the openness and the success of our relationship."
At the end of the meeting, Putin related to the downing of the Russian fighter plane, saying it was "a huge mistake" and that all world leaders he had met today, agreed that there was no need in bringing down the aircraft.
He added that, "Turkey buys oil from the Islamic State (ISIS), and helps the organization to grow stronger". According to him, Russia received intelligence information according to which oil which flows from areas controlled by ISIS arrives in Turkey, saying that "there is reason to believe that the plane was shot down in order to ensure that shipments of illegal oil from ISIS to Turkey will go by unhindered."
