It's happening: amendment to the draft law to be approved today

The final step to approve the amendment to the Draft Kaw - the Knesset plenum will approve today (Monday) the final Draft Law amendment, on second and third reading, in a hearing to be held in the evening. Likud MK Yoav Kish is expected to abstain, but even without him there is a majority for the approval of the law.

The law will come today before the plenum after being approved last Monday on the first reading in the Knesset plenum, and on Thursday at the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, which held a hearing throughout the day. In a hearing to be held today regarding the law, the coalition will discuss 50 objections filed by opposition parties against the law, the hearing is expected to last for a long time.

This morning the Knesset committee will hold a hearing to approve bringing the law to be passed, because according to the Knesset Constitution a law which was approved by committees will only be brought to a vote the following Wednesday. In this case, the coalition will require approval of an exemption proposition and demand to bring the vote ahead today.

As recalled, yesterday the MKs of Degel HaTorah - Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev, and secretary-general of United Torah Judaism Yaakov Asher, came to consult with Hagaon R' Aharon Leib Steinman at his residence on 5 Hazon Ish Street in Bnei Brak, in order to discuss all the final details of the amendment. Knesset members received the blessing the Rosh Yeshiva.
