After escaping, the Shin Bet managed to track down the identity of the terrorist - Azam Izzat Shaaban Shalaldeh, born in 1995, resident of Sair, from a family of Hamas activists. After his injury, the perpetrator was smuggled to receive medical treatment in the hospital "Alhali" in Hebron.

During the arrest, made while soldiers posed as Palestinian civilians, a family member of the detainee was shot and injured while defending him, and was killed. The name of the victim was Abdullah Azzam Shalaldeh, 27 years old.

According to some reports, the undercover soldiers posed as family of a woman giving birth, in order to enter the hospital. Immediately upon entering, they approached the room of the assailant in the hospital's surgical ward.

As recalled, on the last October 25 a stabbing attack occurred near the town of Meitzad during which an Israeli civilian was seriously wounded. During the attack the assailant was shot by the citizen - but he managed to escape from the scene.

The incident began when Arab youths threw stones at Israeli vehicles which passed by, a passenger who got out of his car, was stabbed in the chest by a terrorist and was moderately injured. Magen David Adom forces rushed to the scene, treated and evacuated him to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem when he was fully conscious and suffering from stab wounds. Security forces were propped up, but as mentioned - failed to capture the perpetrator.

Paramedic MDA Ram Naimi who treated him said: "When we arrived we saw on the road a car with a shattered front screen, near the car walked a man of about 58 who was fully conscious, we went to him and saw that he was suffering from a stab wound to the upper body and head trauma by a stone, we gave him first aid on the scene, and evacuated him to hospital urgently as his condition was defined as moderate and stable".
