Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: last night (Tuesday), Rabbi Yosef Potasch z"l, a prominent Karlin- Stoliner passed away in Givat Ze'ev after a serious illness at the age of 67.
A few years ago he contracted a fatal illness and doctors said the situation was desperate. However, R' Yosef begged for people to pray for him and said that he would even pay money to people to pray for him. Yesterday the illness overwhelmed him and he returned his soul to its Creator.
In the past he was a building contractor, and helped establish Givat Zeev which currently houses hundreds of families.
The deceased of blessed memory, was born in Brooklyn to his father, Rabbi Yaakov Potasch z"l - who gained fame when the poet Rabbi Yom Tov Ehrlich wrote a song on his devotion to Judaism in the USSR.
The deceased was a man of kindness, hospitable, he cast an atmosphere of joy and kindness around him, with a sense of humor, anyone who wanted to hear from him stories about Karlin always found a place.
He is survived by his mother, siblings, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who continue in his path.
His funeral will be held this morning (Wednesday) in Jerusalem. It will leave at 10 am from the Karlin Stolin Beis Midrash in Givat Ze'ev, to the Beis Midrash Heichal Rabeinu Yochanan of Karlin Stolin on Avinoam Yellin street in Jerusalem to the Mount of Rest where he will be buried. May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
Gladdening the late Rabbi Yosel Potasch z"l
