Hasidim excited: R' Pinile revealed

The Chassidic world is excited: for the first time a rare historical documentation of the Rbbe Pinchas of Ostilah HYD was exposed, on the steps of a building in the city of Lamberg in Lvov in1928.

R' Pinileh - as he was known by all - was known as a genius and tremendous erudite in charifus and bekius in all parts of the Torah, holy and sublime, who was in a state of fasting throughout his life, with love of Israel for every Jew. All who knew him talked with tremendous admiration about his sacred image which left a huge impression on all who saw him.

He was the son of R' Mordechai of Rachmestrivke, who came later in life came to Jerusalem, the son of the Rebbe Yochanan. R' Pinileh was the favorite son in law of the Rbbe Issachar Dov of Belz.

He served as rabbi of the city of Ostillah and in his last days in Pshemishl, and was killed al Kiddush Hashem in the town of Sambor by the Nazis on the seventeenth in Iyar, 32 La' Omer. His Divrei Torah were gathered eventually in the book "Sheeris LePinchas".

From his entire family who were burned in the Holocaust only one trace remained – his daughter Rebbetzin Trani a.h. and her husband the Rebbe Yaakov Yosef of Skver zt"l, the father of the Rebbe shlita.

This extraordinary record was archived all the years in the Holocaust Museum, and only recently was it made clear beyond any doubt that this is the Rebbe Pinchas of Ostilah.

One proof is the Meshamesh who one sees at his side going down the stairs, and is also known from another photograph at the levaya of the generator of Daf Hayomi, Rabbi Meir Shapiro of Lublin in 5694.

The Hasidim note that R' Pinileh was only just 49 years old in 1928, and in 1933 was only 54 years old – however, he looked seventy years old.
