Children in Red Square shouted: "We are not afraid"

"Niet, niet, nikava, kromi bogo adnava" that was the sentence who accompanied the children's choir "Hashira Ha'asirit" – at the Talmud Torah Menachem in Moscow, during the exciting concert at the Historical Museum hall in the Kremlin.

Despite the day of national mourning which was declared in Russia this week due to the crash of a passenger jet, it was decided to maintain as planned the "Unity Day", the day that marks the unity of various nationalities in Russia, Jews, Caucasians, Armenians and more. A huge crowd filled the outskirts of the Kremlin and the square, and watched the Cheder children performing Jewish songs and Hasidic melodies. Thousands cheered the Jewish children who sang: "Hu Elokeinu", "Shalom Aleichem", and "Ani ma'amin beviat hamashiach."

The representatives of the Russian Parliament – the "Duma", honored the event with its presence, as well as various religious leaders. The highlight was the appearance of various children's choirs and the performance of the Jewish children's choir.

At the end of the official ceremony, the choir children spontaneously came out, stood in the crowded square plaza, and began to recreate the show in front of the masses of people. Dozens gathered quickly around them, to hear the Jewish declaration that accompanied the Jews of the Iron Curtain for decades: "Nia ba yosie nikava, niet niet nikava, kromi bogo adnava".

The choir conducting was done by the educator Rabbi Mendy Markowitz who was assisted by the Cheder principal, R' Yosef Yitzchok Kenig and the director of institutions, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Lipsker.
