A terror attack occurred this afternoon (Sunday) on Route 60 near Anun.
According to information from the scene, there are three casualties among the Border Police officers who were at the checkpoint.
A young man of about 20 with head and limb injuries, was evacuated in an MDA MICU to Hadassah. Two were lightly injured, of them a 20-year old young man with bruises on the back and a young girl of 20 with light injuries, they were evacuated to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
The perpetrating terrorist escaped. A military force which was at the point, managed to fire on the terrorist's vehicle. Palestinians reported that the driver was wounded and is being treated in Anun. Searches are held to locate him.
Army and police forces which entered Beit Anun were attacked by hundreds of rioters with stones, Molotov cocktails, burning tires and garbage cans on fire. At this stage, the terrorist was not found, there were no injuries.
Magen David Adom emergency paramedic Benny Tene and paramedic Chagai Wingosh say: "When we got there we saw three youngsters who were conscious, they lay near the square while suffering of injuries in the limbs and head, we gave them primary health care and quickly placed them into ambulances to evacuate them to hospital while health care continued on the way, one of them suffered injuries to the head and limbs and is defined in serious condition, the other two were defined in light condition. They communicated with us and told they were injured by a vehicle."
As recalled, just a few hours ago a stabbing attack near the site was thwarted when a terrorist arrived at 13:45 at Beit Anun junction, north of Kiryat Arba, and tried to attack IDF fighters from the Charuv Battalion. The fighters identified the terrorist 100 meters west of the entrance to Beit Anun and began to chase after him. A couple of Border Policemen who were close by identified the terrorist running at them with a knife in his hand. The fighters fired accurately at him and he was hit and killed.
"Close the dangerous crossings immediately"
Yochai Damari, mayor of Mount Hebron Council, commented: "Less than two years ago the square near the site of recent attacks in Anun was established. We, mayors in the region, warned repeatedly to the relevant authorities about the danger posed by the square and offered alternative solutions in this regard. Vehicles coming to the square are forced to slow down and are stoned over and over again by stones and Molotov cocktails, and a military force is often required there. It is important to note that this square was set up with the support and funding of the EU. I once again demand of the Israeli government to immediately close the crossings at these dangerous places. It can not be that soldiers and civilians are killed and injured due to the comfort of our enemies."
Residents of Hebron and Kiryat Arba criticize the head of Central Command commander Roni Numa and Hebron security commander Yariv Ben Ezra regarding their performance and decision making. "There is no curfew in Beit Anun, so too in Hebron. Arabs pass anywhere. Incitement in mosques only grew and the Hebron Brigade commander does not take care of it and if that were not enough, the military's stance about the return of the bodies is total capitulation." The residents are demanding a change of reality and different behavior of the army.
