An interesting meeting took place last night (Wednesday) at dusk between member of the Council of Torah Sages Hagaon Rabbi Shimon Baadani and Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon. The two met at the business lounge of JFK Airport in New York.
During the conversation Harav Baadani reminded former IDF chief Ya'alon that the latter came to console him for his grandson who was killed a year ago at a run over attack in Jerusalem at the Zwihl Square.
Ya'alon was interested and asked Harav Baadani what he was doing in New York, Harav Baadani said he was travelling to strengthen the local Jewish community, and said he was asked by many of the communities that they are afraid to come to Israel during this period due to terrorism, "so I told them not to be afraid," he noted.
At the end of the meeting Harav Baadani gave Moshe Ya'alon a blessing that during his tenure there should be full security.
Harav Baadani spent the last two weeks in Mexico and Panama - where he visited the Talmud Torahs and synagogues and gave lessons and sichos among the local Haredi public.
Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon who was on a visit to New York this week, spoke this evening (Wednesday), at the Pentagon and addressed the US-Israeli relations.
