Arabic, tefillin and the world's tallest tower: Dubai
"Speak Hebrew freely and go with a kippa": in the midst of tension in Israel, David Peres is happy in Dubai • a glimpse into the Emirate

These days I'm in Dubai on business, I was surprised to discover an interesting country. And here are some surprising facts about the place:
The first language spoken here is English (apparently not even once did I hear Arabic), even though it is an Arab emirate. The feeling on the street is not threatening even though I'm wearing a kippah and speak Hebrew freely. And there's even a Chabad House active on Jewish holidays.
But it is certainly a Muslim country, and the muezzin here generally runs immediately after running the world's largest water fountain. Here, not every time you hear the muezzin it means incitement. Alcohol and cigarettes cost thousands of dollars here, and are almost unattainable.
At the mall entrance stands a woman dressed in black with a hand scanner, but no, she is not a terrorist but a security guard.
It's a neat place, with the largest tower and fountain in the world. The roads are wide and there are no traffic jams even during peak hours. Not all cars are Lamborghini, there is Mazda 6 too. The only queue in the elevator is for the 163rd floor and even that is 3 minutes.
It turns out that if the Arabs let foreign companies do the work, they enjoy the quality of life and can be happy without getting high and without the need to escape from reality.
