Towards the day death of Rachel Imeinu a.h. which fell on Shabbos, thousands flocked to the tomb starting on Thursday night until Sunday night to pray at her gravesite in Bethlehem, despite the rainy and wintry weather.
Due to the difficult security situation and the wave of terror, many attended prayer gatherings at the place. Among others, many attended a special Tikun for the success of Am Yisrael and mitigation of decrees, attended by the Mekubal Rabbi Ya'akov Ades and rabbis of the institutions of Rachel Imeinu.
It is estimated that some forty thousand people visited the tomb during the past few days. Director of the Holy Places, Rabbi Yosef Shwinger concluded that in relation to the situation, the number of people who arrived is as expected, he also revealed that the scope of forces guarding the hillula was about 800 police and security officers.
