Thousands attended tonight (Motzaei Shabbos) the funeral procession of Rabbi Chaim Yechiel Rothman HYD, who died last Shabbos after a year of hospitalization in which he fought for his life after the brutal attack at Bnai Torah in Har Nof, at the age of 55 at his demise.

The community rabbi, Rabbi Yitzchak Mordechai Rubin, eulogized the deceased: "A year has passed and the hearts are seething again. One can not forget and ignore what we had seen. They tell us from Heaven: remember what Yishmael has done to you, when we were wrapped in talleisim and tefillin. The number of widows increased to five and of the orphans to thirty-five."

"All those ones who always trust in "kochi veotzem yadi", are now helpless against the terrible massacre which occurs here morning, noon and night. Against these knives of terrorists the Iron Dome will not help. You can not intercept it. What would help is just to wear a skullcap and acknowledge that that there is a leader of the world. Everything that happens with us is not accidental, G-d forbid, there is a guiding hand… Rabbi Yechiel was a hardworking, affable person, always ran to the Beis Midrash, he actually ran, never just walked. He would study and pray until the last of his strength, until late at night, even if he was tired from work. The widow received the verdict with love, but did not give up to be with him all the time, to try to help. Just a few days ago she said words of encouragement at "hafrashas challah" to the women of the community – if this is G-d's will, we accept it."

His son, Israel Rothman, eulogized his father: "Dad, you gave your soul, all your life you served Hakadosh Boruch Hu with devotion and joy, you would love all, you did not see anything wrong in him, no matter what he thinks. Dad, I want to thank you on my behalf and on behalf of my mother and on behalf of all members of the family for all that you gave us and took concern for us and loved us and taught us the way of the Torah and the path of truth, and because of that we were able, in the last year, to stand with simple faith and accept the decree with love, and believe that whatever G-d does is for the best."

The funeral was also attended by Minister Aryeh Deri, Mayor Nir Barkat and the State Comptroller Yosef Shapiro.

From the shull in Har Nof Mount, the levaya proceeded to the Mount of Rest in Jerusalem - where he was buried near his son Eliyahu Mordechai, who passed away ten years ago after falling off his bicycle in the Jerusalem Forest.
