Under the nose of Ministry of Education: Play on terrorism

Education Ministry Director General Michal Cohen summoned yesterday (Tuesday) the principal and a teacher at an elementary school in Beit Hanina in East Jerusalem, for a hearing on suspicion of incitement and encouragement of violence against IDF soldiers. The hearing will be held in the coming days.

As part of the Ministry of Education's effort to eradicate violence and incitement, the office examined information in recent days, according to which there is school activity which appears to be illegal political propaganda, inciting and encouraging violence, and which can have a detrimental effect on students.

A survey conducted by the Ministry regarding the matter shows an increased number of findings according to which, among others, a play held recently at the school presented an IDF soldier as a violent and deadly person shooting a Palestinian child. In addition, the students sang songs of praise and waved pictures of the terrorists who carried out murderous attacks against Jews.

Education Minister Naftali Bennett stressed: "We've talked enough about propaganda, it's time to act. The shocking incident in the school is the fuel of the terror machine, and the furthest thing from education. I feel sorry for parents who clap for their children simulating an execution, but educators who have allowed the play will be treated without leniencies".
