Shortly after 20:30 tonight, a terrorist tried to grab a weapon from a soldier on a Superbus bus line 185, from Neve Ilan in Jerusalem, where it went on Shazar Boulevard, near the entrance to Jerusalem Chords Bridge.
According to the report, the terrorist boarded the bus to Jerusalem from Neve Ilan, sat in the back of the bus, near the soldier. At the entrance to Jerusalem he attacked the soldier with a knife, wounding him, shouting 'Allah Akbar' then tried to grab his weapon.
A Jerusalem District police officer who was on the bus in front, heard a scream, turned around and saw the soldier's struggle with the terrorist, ran toward the terrorist and tried to bind him to the floor. Passengers who were on the bus called the driver to stop and open the doors so they could come down and simultaneously reported to the police. The officer held the terrorist and fought him with two civilians on the bus, while the terrorist was trying to kidnap the soldier's weapon and cock it.
A police force nearby responded quickly and got on the bus. In an attempt to take over the terrorist, the policeman's gun which was secured with a security string, fell. The terrorist managed to grab the gun and tried to cock it.
An officer from the Lev Habira station who came on the bus, noticed a terrorist with a gun, fired precisely and neutralized him.
Sergeant Major G. from the Jerusalem District who was on bus relates: "When I noticed the terrorist's struggle with the soldier, I jumped at the terrorist, I saw his knife fell, I tried to bind him to the floor, he struggled and constantly tried to pull the soldier's weapon until another police force arrived and the terrorist was neutralized".
District Commander Moshe (Chico) Edri praised the policemen and the citizens, "The determined response of the police who act with courage and dedication led to the rapid ending of the event and to prevent harm to civilians. We will continue to act decisively and quickly to any terrorist who tries to harm the innocent."
Ze'ev Kashash, Chairman of Ichud Hatzalah, who arrived within seconds on the scene recalls: "When I arrived at the scene I heard gunshots yet. Along with the Ichud Hatzalah volunteers we provided primary health care to the stabbed man from the bus and a number of light casualties as a result of anxiety."
