The security crisis was resolved in Jerusalem: schooling will be held this morning (Monday) as usual, in all the educational institutions, against the background of conflict with regard to security in the Haredi sector.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon agreed with Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat regarding the cancellation of the strike.
According to the agreement, and in view of the special status of Jerusalem, the Jerusalem municipality will provide security in educational institutions until the end of school hours. The two sides agreed that as part of the grant for Jerusalem in 2016 a response to the security needs of educational institutions will be reviewed in the affirmative, as presented by the municipality.
The municipality will make every effort that the security will be expanded as much as possible on short notice as of tomorrow, to eligible education institutions according to police guidelines after 13:30 pm as well.
Barkat: "I thank the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance on resolving the crisis and the many partners to the struggle led by the Organization of the Jerusalemite parents along with the teachers association, the Teachers Union and the Municipal Youth Council. We will continue to do everything possible to guard our children".
Chairman of PTA in Jerusalem, Paz Cohen: "Jerusalem's children deserve to come back to routine safely. We thank all the officials who took part in resolving the crisis. Our mission is heading towards completion. We wish all school children in Jerusalem success in their studies."
Meanwhile, the mayor agreed to provide a full budget even to Haredi schools, even those who do not have a license but are on the seamline.
Deputy Mayor Zvi Cohen turned during the hearing last night to Mayor Nir Barkat and asked that the security budget will be for Talmudei Torah which did not complete their registration process.
The mayor said that all schools, even the Haredi ones, will receive funding during the entire school day: "I gave a directive that this is real life saving," he said, "We will confirm them and anyone who does not have a symbol of institution".
