The escalation comes to the heart of the country: a violent protest demonstration this evening (Tuesday), by the Arabs of Jaffa.
A procession of the Islamic faction in Jaffa left this evening Jaffa's Ajami Park and called for Israeli Arabs to come out and protest against the events of the Temple Mount. Demonstrators reached Toulouse Street, where there were confrontations between Arab residents and police.
Although the demonstration was unlicensed, Israeli police allowed it. But protesters began throwing stones at cars on Yefet Street and Toulouse Street and blocked roads with garbage bins, burning tires and more.
The protesters, some masked, threw stones at police and attacked and injured two policemen. Currently the Yiftach District police are working to restore order and stop the rioters.
