Emergency meeting in Cabinet: "We'll take decisive measures"

Following a round of murderous attacks in Jerusalem and Israel's security situation, this evening (Monday) the Security Cabinet meets to discuss the difficult events and the actions of the Israeli response to the wave of terrorist attacks in recent weeks.

On the eve of Simchas Torah, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu immediately upon his return from the US, convened an emergency meeting with top security forces of the State in the Kirya in Tel Aviv. After the discussion, the Prime Minister instructed to take a number of additional measures to prevent further terrorist attacks and to enhance deterrence and punishment of terrorists.

After the meeting the prime minister said that "these measures include, among others, speeding up the demolition of terrorists' homes, expansion of administrative detention of rioters, further reinforcement of forces in Jerusalem and the West Bank and the removal of inciters in the Old City and the Temple Mount. We are working so that Israeli citizens can move safely".

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu responded to the arrest of the squad of murderers of the Henkin couple H.Y.D. and said: "We run a strong hand against terrorism and against the instigators. We are working on all fronts. We've added four regiments to the IDF's forces in Judea and Samaria, and thousands of policemen in Jerusalem. The police went deep into Arab neighborhoods, something which has never been done before.

"We'll demolish houses of terrorists. We enable the firm action of our forces against stone-throwers and bottle throwers. This is necessary to maintain the security of Israeli citizens in axes and anywhere. We are not willing to give immunity to any ruffles, any agitator, any terrorist anywhere so there are no restrictions of action of the security forces. We will also remove restrictions on traffic, about action against instigators, we will act against the Islamic Movement, which together with Hamas and the PA is the main source of incitement. I would like to thank the IDF soldiers, Border Police soldiers, Israel police, and Shin Bet personnel who work around the clock for the sake of our security, they do an excellent job. They have the full backing by me and the Israeli government. We are in a harsh fight, but let one thing be clear - we will win it, and as we had beaten the previous waves of terrorism we will defeat this terrorist wave."
