London mourns: veteran head of the Satmar community, philanthropist Rabbi Yishaya Ze'ev Wolf Lev z"l, died suddenly at the age of 89

Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: in London the philanthropist Rabbi Yishaya Ze'ev Wolf Lev, head of the Satmar Mahara community in London and one the world's greatest philanthropists of Satmar, died at the age of 89.

On Thursday night he called his children and parted from them for the last time, telling them he had a feeling he was going to leave the world.

The deceased z"l was the host of the Satmar Rebbe when he came to stay in London. He was one of the greatest supporters of the Satmar institutions throughout the world and has contributed millions of dollars for the establishment and institution-building. Whenever he was approached with donation request – he would respond generously.

Rabbi Yishaiah z"l was a founder of Satmar institutions in London was very close to the Rebbe Vayoel Moshe and the Rebbe Barech Moshe zt"l, whom he hosted at his home.

He financed the Satmar Kollel weekly which amounted to over £ 200,000 per month, and so too the Satmar seminar which he financed.

He recently built a new building of the Satmar Talmud Torah in Williamsburg, New York, for more than $ 5 million.

He is survived by a dor yeshorim- his son Rabbi Eliezer Lev, a respected member of the Satmar community in London. His son Rabbi Shimi Lev Dayan of Satmar London, The benefactors Rabbi Avraham Yechiel and Rabbi Asher Zelig. His sons in law the Biala Rebbe London, and the benefactor Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Freund.

His funeral was held tonight (Saturday) at 10:00 am London time from his home in Stamford Hill through the Beis Midrash of Satmar and through building of the seminary of Bnos Rachel and the Talmud Torah Beis Yishaya Ze'ev to the Satmar cemetery - where he was buried.

May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
