In a letter to the Brazilian ambassador to Israel, Enriqua Sardinia Pinto, and intended for the Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, MK Yosef Jabarin (Hadash Joint Kist) writes that he asks the president not to approve the appointment of Danny Dayan, Israel's ambassador to Brazil.

In the letter he wrote, "Dayan is a resident of Ma'ale Shomron and headed the Judea and Samaria Council, a body representing the Jewish settlements in the occupied territories, from 2007 to 2013.

"Dayan consistently acted in blatant violation of international law and international norms, and led various initiatives directly violating the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.

"Dayan is a settler ideologically committed to the development of settlements - a policy that Brazil recognizes as illegal under international law. Approval of his appointment as ambassador will be a legitimization of a criminal ideology and acts, and will send a resonating message that Israeli oppression of the Palestinian people has no effect on the international arena." In addition, MK Jabarin quoted in the letter an article published by Dayan in the New York Times in which he called for settlement expansion.
