'Anim Zmiros' is a song full of the soul's longing and yearning for dveikus to Hashem. The words of the nigun (from Shir Hakavod customary in Ashkenazi communities): "Anim zmiros veshirim e'erog, ki eleicha nafshi ta'arog, nafshi chamda bezel yadecha, lada'as kol razei sodecha".
The Lubavitcher Rebbe taught this melody on Simchas Torah night after Hakafos and Seudas Yom Tov in 5722 (1962). After the Hakafos the Rebbe said that it has an introduction and a story. The introduction: the Alter Rebbe did not enter the piyut of Shir Hakavod into his siddur, but even so it embodies a sublime idea, as explained in the Kabbalah. The story: The order is that the next day after Yom Kippur, is called "Name of G-d" (Beshem Hashem), one davens early. In one town, when they arrived the next day after Yom Kippur for prayer, they found a Polish Chossid dancing around the amud with the nigun of Shir Hakavod. He was so caught up in that, that throughout the night he was singing and dancing so much that he forgot that he should break the fast.
It is hereby presented a renewed and thrilling performance of the Chabad song of Anim Zmiros by the Neranena choir and musician Moti Steinmetz, musical production and conducting by - Danny Avidani.
