Police warns: Lithuanian Sting returns to market

Gang of stingers call Russians whose relatives live abroad, and using a false story draw out of them thousands of dollars

Police warns: Lithuanian Sting returns to market

The Israeli Coast Province Police warned the public against "the Lithuanian sting". This is a gang which fraudulently makes senior citizens of Russian origin to pay money and exploits the gullibility of its victims.

This affair has already been investigated in the past - last year - and stopped, but these days it arose again, after 11 complaints were filed with the Coast Police station on the matter. Police repeatedly warn the public to avoid falling into the trap of frauds against the innocent.

How does the catch work? Usually the victim receives a phone call from Lithuania, telling him that his son/daughter were involved in a car accident which occurred abroad, and they (the frauds) are guilty of it. Generally, they locate victims whose children have been living abroad at the time.

Later, the caller provides the victim with advocate services who will come to their homes and help them escape possible prosecution.
Within half an hour the phone call arrives, gang members show up at the victim's home and as stated fraudulently receive money (the so-called fees) and disappear. Each time, they charge different amounts of money ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars.
