Watch Litzman accepting the decision, "Lapid added some money to my salary"

At the end of the meeting of the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel in Jerusalem today (Thursday) the historic decision was made to appoint Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman of United Torah Judaism as minister, sixty years after the appointment of Welfare Minister Yitzchak Meir Levin at the late Ben-Gurion's government.

All the Rebbes blessed Yaakov Litzmann at his exit from the meeting. The Rebbe of Slonim even told Litzman: "At the 'knesiah hagedola' theywould say about such a decision - unanimous".

Upon leaving the meeting, Litzmann told Behadrey Haredim: "I received the decision of the Council of Torah Sages that allows me to be a minister. I respect this decision, I will inform the Prime Minister that I agreed to be a minister.

'I want to say a few words about the actual decision – there no change in treating and assisting in the management of the Ministry of Health and there will be no changes between a deputy minister and minister. There is no meaning to it, everything that was - will be. One can always improve, but it will not be because of the minister, it would be because I need to get better, so there will be no change. I hope with G-d's help to continue the health system reform.

"I am glad that finally after three years in the Knesset Lapid and Yesh Atid have an achievement – that I'll be a minister as a result of the Supreme Court. He has no achievements in housing or economy or society, and nothing, it's the only thing, he added some money to my salary. I'm mochel tovos to him, but after the decision of the Council of Torah Sages I respect."
