"There is cause for joy," said former Israeli Ambassador to the US MK Michael Oren in an interview with behadrey haredim, following the announcement of the expected release of Pollard.

"Let's wait until his release. But there's a cause for joy that the Commission has decided to release Pollard," he said.

"Pollard affair," he added, "For many years affected the relations with the US and the American Jewish community. Follow the release of part of the community and some even objected fearing dual loyalty. I am personally very happy this moment has arrived to put this whole episode behind us. "

"I was the official representative of the country who came to visit Pollard in prison. For me it was a shocking experience. He was suffering terribly. I had a deep frustration that I could not bring liberation."

"For us," he added, "This is unrelated to Iran, it is one thing and that's one thing. Pollard should have been released long ago. But we will continue to express our opinion against the worst agreement with Iran".
