After weeks of delays the Knesset approved tonight (Wednesday) by first reading the Norwegian bill, which will enable the resignation of a minister or deputy minister from a party of up to 12 members, and will allow the next one on the list to enter the Knesset.

67 Knesset members supported the Law and 53 MKs opposed the law.

The law will allow the entry of former MKs Yaakov Asher, Shuly Muallem and Avraham Michaeli - subject to the resignation of a minister or deputy minister from one of the parties in the Knesset.

Recall, the law was supposed to go to a vote this week on Monday, but the tension created in the wake of United Torah Judaism, between Degel and Agudah, on the question of the identity of judges at appointment committee member, was delayed. After MK Moshe Gafni took off his candidacy following the package of benefits received, Agudath Yisrael removed its opposition to the law raising its first reading in plenary today.

It should be noted that Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri, first announced two months ago in an interview to Behadrey Haredim that he will retire from the Knesset in favor of Avraham Michaeli. From United Torah Judaism is expected to resign from the Knesset Deputy Minister Meir Porush. Jewish home minister Ayelet Shaked is expected to resign from the Knesset.
