Tens of thousands participated in Lakewood, NJ, in the funeral procession of Rebbetzin Risha Kotler a"h, the Rosh Yeshiva's mother Rabbi Aryeh Malkiel Kotler. She passed away at the age of 93.
On Friday night, she sat at the Shabbos table to hear the recitation of the Kiddush, when her sister Rebbetzin Volpe and her family are staying with her. Suddenly she collapsed and paramedics rushed and attempted resuscitation but she returned her soul to its Creator.
Shock and disbelief spread among city residents and residents of Lakewood in particular and the United States and throughout the world including the Torah world, on the passing of the mother of Malchus, who carried the burden of some of the Torah halls.
The eulogies began with her son in law Hagaon Rabbi David Shustel, head of Yeshivat Beit Midrash, insisting that the promise of "not useful from you and from your seed" is not only the lists of things that I put in your mouth ", but also the spirit from which you", "This spirit of Rabbi Aaron and all his ancestors," he said, "was moved by it."
Then she was eulogized by Rabbi Meir Hirskobitz Rosh Yeshiva Beth Benjamin, Stamford, one of the greatest students of Lakewood.
Nephew Rabbi Yerucham Aolsin head of Yeshivat Beit Midrash high told of the extent of the monarchy, which means giving and dedication to others which she had and passed onto her children.
Eulogies ended by her son Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, who tearfully eulogized her and the great loss to the family and yeshiva.
Then the coffin was taken to the airport in New Jersey, and from there flown to Israel, accompanied by dozens of family members.
Her coffin will arrive at Ben Gurion airport at 12:30 pm. The funeral procession will depart at 14:30 pm from the Mir Yeshiva in the Beit Yisrael neighborhood in Jerusalem, to Har Hamenuchos in the plot of rabbis, alongside her great husband Rabbi Yosef Chaim Shneur Kotler zt"l.
