First Published: precedent in the Torah and yeshiva world: This evening (Wednesday) a letter was exposed by Gedolei Yisrael - Rabbi Aharon Leib Steinman, Rabbi Chaim Kanievski and Hgry"g Edelstein – in which for the first time they allow yeshiva students to marry early.

Until now, in the world of Torah and yeshivas most of the boys married around the age of 22-23. However, Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky himself always ordered all his grandchildren and descendants to marry at 18.

In the past, Hgram"m Shach strongly opposed to marriage at a young age, talked about it a lot, particularly when one was conferring with him. Consequently, and due to other reasons, famous yeshivas such as Tifrach, Ohr Yisrael and Beit Matityahu, would throw out or punished boys who got engaged at an early age.

The current report, first letter, a real revolution is going on, and it is obvious it was written carefully and in utmost detail by Hgry"g Edelstein, head of the Ponovicz yeshiva, and also signed by Hgr"ch and Hgray"l.

The letter "Chazal said at eighteen to the canopy, this way they went ahead, but for various reasons, there were many people who turn to postpone the time of marriage, but there is no essential reason, and there are many people who married at a young age, and found success in the Torah as we know ".

The letter is signed by Gedolei Yisrael: "Therefore advice is unfair is to advise to postpone marriage while those who desire to marry a woman at a young age, and certainly should not prevent those who desire it."

The letter was sent to all of the Roshei Yeshivas in the country, and was not published until now in the Orthodox press.

Will the yeshiva world adopt the practice to marry at an early age? Time will tell.
