Manager of Breslov institutions the late Rabbi Asher Toledano

Tragedy in Yavnael: Rabbi Asher Toledano, CEO of Breslov institutions in Yavnael of Rabbi Shick and member of the local council died at the Poriyah hospital today (Tuesday) afternoon at the age of 51.

On Sunday MDA paramedics were called to his home in Yavnael, and found him in a difficult condition. After lengthy resuscitation he was taken to the hospital - where the last two days the doctors fought for his life, until his death in the afternoon.

Breslov Hasidim constantly prayed for his full recovery, but it had been decreed and he returned his soul to its Creator.

In the year תש"נ he came to live in Yavnael as previously he was a resident of Ashdod, and served as a major in the Air Force. In those years he tied to bonds of love to his mentor Rabbi Shick of Yavnael and since has not moved from him. For years, he served as assistant of Rabbi Shick in public matters and was considered one of the most important home trustees.

In the month of Elul תשנ"א he opened the first Breslov Talmud Torah with his wife at their own home. Rabbi Gideon Mazliah, a resident in Yavael who helped establish the Talmud Torah says: "He simply offered his house with immense devotion for the little kids to have somewhere to study, there were only 22 children and one class opened.

Rabbi Toledano and his wife removed the living room of their house and put chairs so the children can learn kitchen and bathroom and the whole house was actually the Talmud Torah whilst his wife devotedly closed herself in her bedroom until the end of school. They took care to also make their own backyard a playground for the children. That's how it was held for several months until we had a more spacious building in Yavnael.

Further Rabbi Toledano was appointed by Rabbi Shick to direct the Talmud Torah and then later he was appointed director of educational institutions in Yavnael numbering over 1,500 children. He also served for 23 years as a member of the local council in Yavnael on behalf of Breslov and local Shas chairman.

All his life was service to the community and he escaped the fights and disputes. Only a few weeks ago gave out Chumashim at the Talmud Torah to children under his auspices in Yavnael, while blessing each and every one.
