Towards the end of the Sabbath, at 18:45 or so, an earthquake was felt in the south and center of the State of Israel. According to the Seismograph Institute the earthquake source was in Egypt, intensity 5.5 on the Richter scale and was felt also in Eilat.

Dozens of phone calls were received at police centers following the earthquake. But so far there are no reports of damage or casualties. Eilat police cars are sprawled across the city.

According to preliminary indicators of geo-physical Institute, its focus flinch found in northern Sinai area Great Rift Valley. The depth of the noise - six miles to the Center of the Earth. As mentioned above, there were no reports of injuries or damage.

Even at Ben Gurion the earthquake was felt, followed by discontinued operations in the field for about ten minutes. During the cessation of activity the parallel tracks were scoured for inspection and tested all navigation devices. The Airport Authority revealed that there is no deviation in the field and tracks and returned to full activity.
