India: Security was reinforced at Jewish institutions

Jewish institutions, Chabad and the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi received yesterday (Monday) a call from the police, to immediately significantly reinforce security at synagogues, Chabad houses and hotels frequented by Jews, due to warnings received on attempts to attack Jewish sites, due to the announcement of Indian Foreign Minister's decision that the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi will visit Israel next year.

India's foreign minister announced that the Prime Minister, Modi is expected to visit Israel in the coming year, and that, as part of a trip that will also include visits to the Palestinian Authority and Jordan.

It should be noted that the two countries conduct full diplomatic relations since 1992, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in September, with Indian Prime Minister General Assembly held in September. In February, Minister Moshe Ya'alon came to India for a meeting with the Prime Minister of India in New Delhi, and the two discussed ways to strengthen the ties between the two countries.

Recall, in 2012, Tali Koren, the Israeli embassy worker was injured by a bomb placed in her car, with her three others were wounded. In 2008, there was a terrorist attack which killed 166 people, including six members of the Chabad House in Mumbai.
