During a burning thorns shutdown operations in Neve Yaakov in Jerusalem this evening (Monday), stones were thrown at the fire team which extinguished the fire.
Fire fighter Mor Mizrachi, was wounded by stones thrown at her. "We went to put out a fire in Sderot Neve Ya'akov. I started to put out the fire when in parallel youths and children constantly bothered us, cursed, and spoke harsh words against the fire fighters and against me in particular. I was not phased, since unfortunately I am used to this kind of treatment", said Moore.
She says, "Almost every week fire fighters are injured by rocks and insults on a regular basis. Just last week, the team commander was targeted and hit by stones in Bayit Vegan, and a week before the fire fighters were brutally attacked with stones and bottles during an attack".
She recalls, "Whilst putting out the fire I felt pain in the leg and I saw a young boy throwing stones at me. It is important for me to note" adds Mor Mizrachi, "Our only goal is to prevent fires and injuries and property, and for that reason I still cannot understand the culture which has developed amongst the community in part of the population in Jerusalem to attack us on a permanent basis."
This is "something that must be avoided in my opinion by educators and members of the public in the community," she concludes with pain.
