For the first time since "Preventive Edge": a rocket in Ashdod

Immediately after 21:00 tonight (Tuesday), a red siren was sounded in the towns of Ashdod and Lachish, and tens of thousands of civilians fled towards protected areas. According to the IDF targeting the rocket fell near Gan Yavne.

An anxiety victim, aged 15, from Ashdod was evacuated to Barzilai Medical Center.

The sirens were heard in Ashdod, Bnei Darom, Neve Herzog, Nir Galim, Ad Halom, Emunim, Beit Ezra, Givati, Ezer, Azrikam, Uzziah and Shtulim.

Ashdod residents reported three explosions were heard in the area, but so far no reports of injuries or damage.

Shmuel a resident of Ashdod said to Behadrey Haredim: "because of the siren, everything came back to us. The frightened children ran out to the steps because we don’t have a safe room. The fear is that the coming summer we will again be at war, not to mention the freedom that we all have been waiting for almost two years because last year there was no summer vacation as a result of Operation Preventive Edge.

Again we will think twice before we go out to the streets and think where there are protected spaces nearby? Is it an emergency to go out now or can it be delayed? Again, children will not agree to remain alone with a babysitter because a siren may be sounded. It is not easy."

Ashdod Municipality announced that educational institutions will act tomorrow as usual except for institutions that are not protected. As for the municipal market, the operation will be decided tomorrow.

An Israeli military official sent a message to Hamas following the launch rocket into Israel. According to the source, Israel holds Hamas responsible for all events in the Gaza Strip.
