Deri: "cancellation of VAT - even at the government's integrity"

Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri, reacts strongly to reports that Finance Ministry does not intend to approve the VAT on basic foodstuffs.

At the entrance to the Knesset faction meeting Minister Deri said: "I have seen media reports so I decided to respond immediately to make things clear for anyone who needs to hear. Ministry of Finance estimate that our agreement on lowering VAT on basic commodities were not implemented and Finance is opposed, then I say here we are and we signed a coalition agreement on purpose to fulfill every comma and period written in it, and I see this as a very serious breach of contract to the integrity of government. VAT on basic commodities will come to pass on this budget and anyone who has a contrary intention or he signed something that he will not fulfill has a problem with us. We have our commitments and liabilities and I expect others meet the commitment with us. "

Deri also referred to the decision of the Antitrust Commissioner, Prof. David Gilo, to resign, and said: "I was sorry to hear about the resignation of the Antitrust Commissioner and I call on him to reconsider the move and return from his resignation."
