Hardakim, attacked? Turn to Litzman: "we help each applicant"

Surprising? Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman, contacted the office of the Defense Minister last week, demanding to find out why the military did not release haredi recruits for Shabbos and this was handled immediately.

In a letter sent last Monday, before Netanyahu announced Ya'alon as Defense Minister, Litzmann wrote the assistant minister that he was approached by soldiers at the base of recruits at Mount Dotan. They claimed, "there were no problems regarding their release to their home on Shabbos."

Litzmann demanded in his letter to find out if this is the procedure, and following his appeal, the issue was indeed taken care of - for the benefit of the haredi soldiers.

Deputy Minister of Health's office stated: "MK Litzmann's request was in accordance with his practice to help anyone who turns to him for help, without distinction of any kind. This is the promise given to applicants and one has to insist on fulfilling it."

Overall, this is a surprising letter, since to date we have not seen haredi MKs (United Torah Judaism certainly not) who are trying to help haredi soldiers recruiting in the ranks of the army. But actually Litzmann has been identified so far as one came to their defense. After the assaulting of the religious officer in Mea Shearim in Jerusalem, the editorial in Hamodia newspaper dealt with condemning the attack - on the other hand, in the Haredi political press, except for Hamodia newspaper, no one reported the extreme incident.

Following the letter, we questioned the office of the Deputy Minister Litzmann, should he be called upon by soldiers to care for incitement against them, will he also deal with them? "We're helping any person requesting help," they promised there.

And what about the loose connection with the Jerusalem faction? Time will tell.
