Received his own: Eichler to be appointed to head commission

After the mini-crisis which MK Israel Eichler brought about with his demand to receive a Knesset committee chairmanship, an agreement is emerging on the subject.

Behadrey Haredim learned that this evening (Monday), before the vote in the Knesset, Eichler left the Knesset in rage after he claimed Torah Judaism did not get enough roles.

After a few minutes Eichler received a phone call from a member of the negotiating team of Likud MK Ze'ev Elkin, who concluded with him that until Wednesday the parties will reach an agreement whereby Eichler will receive a commission chairmanship. Apparently, Eichler will receive the chairmanship of the Public Petitions Committee.

Earlier today Behadrey Haredim exposed posts by MK Israel Eichler to Mrs. Perach Lerner, Advisor to the Prime Minister, which read: "United Torah Judaism received roles by a different key to Shas and the Jewish Home disproportionately. Shas also informed us that it chooses a deputy Chairman of the Knesset for the first half term. So we will be ready, without choice, to give up this important role and instead receive heading of a Commission which is the smallest and least important to us in the Knesset, Chairman of the Public Petitions Committee, throughout the term.

"Our public is having bureaucratic trouble since it has no one in the public sector. For me a role where I can help my voters, is being in the coalition or not. Rabbi Litzmann knows I am adamant about the matter. Notify Elkin also that he should not be mistaken about my seriousness and not disgrace the Prime Minister who wants the best for the case. I'm waiting to hear from you on this proposal before you bring us to vote in the Knesset. I hope you can handle it on for the best".

It should be noted that MK Eichler was reprimanded at the faction meeting by members of the Knesset, for working without the cooperation of the faction.
