Following the wave of protests which was first published yesterday by behadrey haredim about baptism at an urban center in Ra'anana on Saturday, the municipality announced its cancellation.

The municipality's statement read: "Dear residents of Raanana, we see mutual respect a fundamental value that allows each person to live according to his faith, his outlook and conscience. These make the city special and fresh social and human fabric range.

"The Raanana Municipality is careful to take care of the needs of all its residents while maintaining the principles of equality and partnership practices in the past years.

"On becoming aware of the municipal management of the Association's intention to see the view to Israel 'to hold a lecture in Ra'anana, and in order to respect the feelings of the residents of the city and in light of widespread concern and the real harsh comments that may deteriorate to fear for the safety of residents, Raanana Municipality conducted contacts and experimenting with the association in cooperation with Israeli police in an attempt to dissuade them from holding the event in Raanana, in agreement.

Unfortunately, since these attempts were unsuccessful, we had to inform the association that Raanana Municipality was forced to cancel the event. We will continue to work for the benefit of all residents."

Yesterday it was reported by behadrey haredim, the Mayor Zeev Bielski did not respond to the request of the rabbi of Raanana Rabbi Yitzhak Peretz and the religious council to cancel the event, although that was to occur in urban facility and be funded by residents of Ra'anana.

As a result, the United Religious Front faction met at City Hall last night (Wednesday) and decided to take all measures to cancel the event - also the legal aspect and through demonstration.

Members of Yad L'Achim, who did much to prevent the event of baptism, say to behadrey haredim "It is a great joy that we prevented another missionary table event, but should wait and see if they approached the High Court to appeal the decision of the municipality."
