Funeral summary • "Not for nothing were you murdered on the Holocaust Remembrance Day"

Thousands of people accompanied to rest (Thursday), Yochai Sharki hy"d, the 25 year old who was murdered last night, in the rampage attack in Jerusalem.

The funeral took place on Mount Hamenuhot, attended by the Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat, and rabbis of Jerusalem Hgr"a Stern and Hgrs"m Amar.

The father of the deceased Uri Sharki rabbi of Yeshivat Machon Meir eulogized and said, "You merited in returning your soul in a special way. You've saved the lives of others. You have gone to heaven as the victim; you did not want to join the Navy because you did not want to leave the country. You were afraid you will not get a prophecy. At the end you left, for the people of Israel".

"Go, my dear son, it is not difficult. Your soul rises to the king of peace. You've become a martyr whichno creature can stand with them. You had your own a sensitivity. Concern to everyone. Ruddy and beautiful eyes. A sense of humor. You shot the bow until the last week and you were killed as a hero where Yonathan, Shaul's son was killed. Not for nothing were you killed on Holocaust Remembrance Day. You deserve the world to come. You lived the Holocaust. It was in your blood. When you didn’t want to laugh at serious events you remembered the Holocaust".

Rabbi of Jerusalem Rabbi Aryeh Stern wulogized: "Today Holocaust Memorial Day comes to remind us what the Nazis wanted to do, to destroy and kill all the Jews. And so it is today".

In his eulogy Hgrs"m Amar said: "Nissan is a month of salvation but this time we have had this month accompanied by large losses and now terrorism".

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat said: "Jerusalem is enveloped in grief. We continue the ongoing campaign to absorb heavy losses but we stand firm and strong, just as the way and the values of the Sharki family".

Brother, Yair Sharki, Channel 2 news reporter said: "Everything I tell you, my brother Shalom, will be a cliché. But amazing how all the clichés are true about you. And to say it, is also a cliché. Wrong and sad".

His younger brother Michael eulogized as well and referred to the motive of prey: "I saw the pictures of the attack," he said, "and there is no doubt that this was not an accident and no censorship will cover it."
