Establishment of an orthodox committee, examining the 'stairs of death' default, and the formulation of procedures for mass events, initiated by emergency rescue organizations and the ultra-Orthodox sector, was undermined due to the interested parties, Behadrey Haredim reveals.
Recall at the funeral of Hgr"sh Vosner zt" l, the late scholar Mordechai Gerber, 27, and groom Yitzhak Samet, 18 were trampled to death on the stairs of Chachmei Lublin Yeshiva, whilst two others were seriously injured.
At the end of the funeral there were complaints about the lack of preparation and accusations were against the family of Rabbi Vosner, the organizers and the police due to the chaos which took place.
At the beginning of last week, Rabbi Hanania Tz'olk entrepreneur, chairman of Ezer Zion, founded the establishment of a body composed of representatives of the various communities and organizations - not on a political basis, in order to prevent similar tragedies.
According to the plan, after Pesach they representatives were supposed to meet the emergency rescue organizations and relevant parties to begin construction of the public body.
On Wednesday of Chol Hamoed Pesach, household members of Hgr"y Silman were summoned for initial discussion, with the organizations that took part in the funeral, to analyze the failures and plan the next steps, as well as decide who is required to participate in the organization like this.
Among others invited to the meeting was Ezer Mizion Chairman Hananya Tz'olk, Reuben Korlnsky of Bnei Brak municipality [Korlnsky organizes most of the largest funerals in the city, as well as the funeral of Rabbi Chaim Grenimann zt"l today. AS], Main Gush Dan rescue, rescue union leaders, Aaron Teller [city employee of Belz Hasidim] and other experts.
