After a fire which broke out on Friday night at the matzo bakery in Komemiyut, which destroyed a large amount of matzos, there is fear of a slight shortage of matzos in the factory's supply, as learned by Behadrey Haredim.
"A number of machines required for continued operation of the bakery burned down," says Yonah Bash, one of the factory owners, in a conversation with Behadrey Haredim. He says that the machinery responsible for polishing and winding the sticks with which the matzos are put into the oven. "The fire caused major damage on the one hand with the burning of matzos, and on the other hand it means we cannot meet the orders we have committed ourselves to," he says.
The employees have not yet been notified about the work day tomorrow (Sunday), and the owners are making efforts to find alternative machines to allow continued work, which will come to an end in less than a week.
Behadrey Haredim learned that part of the matzos which burned were to be sent tomorrow to a known charity organization, which was supposed to hand them out to needy families, and the factory hopes to increase the production line, with a return to full production at the plant, in order that these families will be able to make Pesach properly.
Beyond the need to find alternative machines, to bake new matzos instead of those burned, the electric company is not ready at this time (when writing the article) to connect the electricity which cut off, following safety issues and bureaucracy.
Komemiyut bakery hopes to reach maximum supplies to provide the huge amounts of orders that have not yet been provided.
