Toddler Nitzhiya Ayala Yosef A.H. passed away

After hours when doctors fought for her life, the two months old baby who was found this morning at her home unconscious, passed away.

The baby was Nitzhiya Ayala Yosef A.H., the eldest daughter of Rabbi Amram Yosef yibadel lechayim, the son of Rabbi Yaakov Yosef zt"l, and the grandson of Harav Ovadia Yosef zt"l.

The baby of about two months, lost consciousness in her home this morning (Tuesday) on Ha'amarkelim Street in Geula, volunteers and paramedics of Ichud Hatzala carried out lengthy resuscitation for more than two hours, after which she was taken to Hadassah Hospital in the city, in critical condition.

Hospital physicians continued to fight for her life for hours, and at about 15:00 she returned her pure soul to its Creator.

"When I got to their home, the little girl was unconscious and without a pulse and breath, I started resuscitation until the arrival of an ambulance that took her while resuscitating in critical condition," said Dudie Shkaler, Ichud Hatzala volunteer this morning. "Family members said the toddler was found unconscious after being awakened from her sleep."

Hadassah Hospital reported that "a baby of about two months was evacuated this morning to the pediatric emergency ward at the Hadassah Hospital with prolonged CPR by a team that began at the evacuation scene. When she arrived at the hospital the doctors continued resuscitation efforts for a long while, unfortunately efforts were unsuccessful and the baby died. We send our condolences to the family."
