Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu sent a letter of condolence today to the Sasson family, seven of whose children died in a fire in Brooklyn on Shabbos and were laid to rest in Jerusalem.

"Dear Gavriel," the Prime Minister wrote, "I heard with deep shock about the tragic death of your beloved children Elian, David, Rivka, Yehoshua, Moshe, Sarah and Yaakov. From what I heard about them, I learned about children of values who were a source of pride and joy for you.

"Every one of your children was a world, unique. There is no greater grief than the loss of sons and daughters, and the agony is even greater when it comes to young children.

"The people of Israel as a whole shares your pain. As a faithful family, the verse "bekrovai ekadesh" was fulfilled in your loved ones – in those close to me I will be sanctified. May you find the strength of mind to deal with the disaster that struck the entire family, and draw from the memory of your children a source of power and comfort. I wish a full and speedy recovery to your wife Gail and daughter Zipporah.
With you in your deep sorrow for the loss of your children, seven pure souls".
