Talks on the formation of the government entered accelerated activity: Likud MKs Yariv Levin and Zeev Elkin met in the afternoon (Sunday) in Jerusalem with Shas Chairman MK Aryeh Deri.
Behadrey haredim learned that Levin and Elkin considered members of the Knesset very close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, came after the emergence meeting this morning with the President Reuven Rivlin and recommendation Netanyahu for Prime Minister. The meeting discussed issues of the coalition.
At the same time, Shas chairman Aryeh Deri established a negotiating team for the movement, which will conduct the negotiations with the Likud.
Members of the team: Ariel Atias, Yehuda Avidan, attorney Nadav Asa'el, attorney Shlomo Deri. Negotiating team will discuss the guidelines and the coalition agreement, and the division of roles and offices.
Earlier in the day Likud faction chairman MK Zeev Elkin said, upon leaving the President "we are honored to be here today as the largest party. There is no doubt that the President is correct and the public has spoken sharply and clearly. This time election campaigns were largely trying to say 'Just not Netanyahu' and the public said 'Yes Netanyahu'."
"Therefore Likud of course recommends Netanyahu as candidate for prime minister and I call on all party leaders, especially those who considered themselves the national camp, recommend Netanyahu for coalition negotiations quickly without political games and extortion. Israel needs a stable and a functioning government as quickly as possible and I expect the other factions to show responsibility and adhere to. "
