Antwerp community comes to the home of Rabbi Mendel Gur Aryeh, , to comfort him upon the death of his son Uri Nissan Gur Aryeh z"l, who passed away suddenly on Purim.
Among those who come to console can be seen diamond merchants, the common people and scholars in the city but with considerable pain on their faces.
When comforters begin to restore the last days of Uri Nissan his father Rabbi Mendel recalls: "He called me before taanis Esther and told me "I feel something strange I feel something inside, I do not know what it is". After hearing the megilla he went to his uncle, and told him I heard the Megillah reading, but I did not hear, please read it to me. "
"Indeed, his uncle read him the scroll. He went to bed, and suddenly got up because of a dream ... he could not explain what he dreamed. He was really afraid of going to sleep. After some time he took Psalms, and when they told him one does not recite Psalms at night, he said that today he will recite, and fell asleep on the couch. And the next day he did not get up from his sleep.
Friends of the family say that when his father heard the news in the midst of Purim in Antwerp he was silent and did not speak, he received dozens of gift packages, sat at the feast, and said nothing in order not to disturb the delight of the holiday.
For many hours until the evening he digested the news on his own. Then he told his family about the horrifying painless death of his son.
On Sunday a big rally will be held in his memory with participation of Chabad Rabbis in Antwerp.
