Kiryat Skvira: a senior activist in his sixties, was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident and the police are asking for the public's help in locating the driver.

The incident occurred yesterday (Sunday) at 9 pm (US time) at the entrance to Kiryat Skvira, when Rabbi Shlomo Diamant, a resident of Monsey, tried to cross the road on Washington Avenue. A passing vehicle ran over the man and fled the scene.

Diamant was seriously injured. Hatzala volunteers and police arrived at the scene. Hatzala ambulance moved Diamant to Westchester Hospital and Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

Police who arrived found on the scene of the accident the broken mirror of the vehicle. According to eyewitnesses, the car came quickly and ran over the man, but because of the darkness witnesses were unable to record the license plate.

During the investigation of the accident, concern was raised as to whether the incident was intentional for nationalistic reasons, the police collected the security tapes in the accident but finds it hard to identify the offending vehicle.
