Netivot wonder figure • who was the Baba Sali?

Baba Sali, Rabbi Israel Abuchatzeira zy"a, was one of the greatest Kabbalists of the last generation, and why did he get his nickname the Baba Sali?

Some argue that the meaning "Father prays", but apparently nothing but shortening the name Yisrael, that is, father of Yisrael.

He was born in תר"נ, in the Ghassan city District Tphilalt Morocco, to his father Rabbi Masoud and a son to the famous Abuchatzeira dynasty.

Since childhood, he worked on the Torah and penance. He avoided meat, covered his eyes with a cloak and tried a lot to learn how to follow the path of his grandfather, Rabbi Yaakov Abuchatzeira known as a masterpiece.

At the age of Bar Mitzvah, he married his neice, but she died two years later and he married Precha Amsalem. The couple had two sons - Mayer and Baruch. At the age of 18 he increased the throne of his father who died.

In the year תרפ"ב he spent a year in Israel and studied at the mekubalim yeshiva of "Bethel" in Jerusalem, but returned to Morocco and became a Rabbi.
